5th February - Katie's Birthday

As some of you know this Friday (5th February) is Katie’s birthday and she would have been 17. Every day without Katie is tough, it’s just that Friday will be just that bit tougher.

Of course, in true Katie style, we will go shopping and do “stuff” she would love. When Katie was unable to go to school but well enough to get out she enjoyed nothing more than a day’s shopping with her Mum and her Auntie Haze.

So we are looking forward to the day for some reasons and we hope you can spare a thought for Katie on her day.

5th February is also the 1st birthday of my friend Laggo’s daughter Ava and my friend and colleague Sharon is celebrating her daughter Jasmine’s 18th birthday on the day too.

I had a lovely reminder this week of how many people remember Katie in so many different ways. An ex colleague of mine who left our company rejoined and we got talking about Katie

She said of Katie “What a lovely girl. I always remembered when you bought her into the Office and showed her the photocopier and told her to stand well back while she was using it! The look on her face was so funny but she did exactly as you said and you were so very proud and rightly so”.

I know we as a family have millions of happy memories of Katie it is just we forget sometimes that other people do too and it so nice when these are shared with us.

Five weeks into my diet, whose idea was this!, and I am now reduced to reading cookbooks to ease my hunger pains and the other day when I returned from work I did think about eating part of my carpet! And if I see any more crudités!
