Katie's Legacy - A Blog

As we enter our fourth year without Katie we often stop and think about the way we are dealing with our loss.

Should we be doing this, behaving like that or feeling in a particular way. A bereavement counsellor once said to me that your grief is your own and you should deal with how you feel is right. Please read on....

We at Friends of Katie, as has been said via this site many times, are acutely aware of not tarnishing Katie's name and memory in any way. We would be mortified if we felt we have ever overdone the fund raising or dwelled in her memory too much.

We think we have got it right and have very good friends that will give us a nudge if we have not. Katie's memory is a positive force that has helped do great things for both Little Havens and the Danbury Mission while many of her friends and family are undoubtedly closer to us now becasue of her.

As you know our cricket match is our focal point and we aim to make the day just perfect and one Katie would have loved and one that she looks down upon with that beautiful smile. It just so happens we make some serious money for LH and the Mission along the way!

We don't know the rules for grieving our loss, we suspect there aren't any, but all we can do is maintain Katie's legacy while at the same time not spoiling it in any way.

We hope you are happy to stick with us on this journey.
