Second Blog Is Here!
Like London Buses you wait all that time for one Blog and two come along almost at once!
Katie's Dad has written his second piece, hope you find it enjoyable.
Welcome to the second of my blogs. It turns out that doing a blog is quite trendy and with me also now being on Face Book (I’ve only just got over how exciting Friends Reunited is so give me a break) I think Katie would approve of her modern Dad.
I also recently disposed of some 20-year-old desert boots too though my 40-year-old Southend United scarf is going nowhere!
The other day when I woke up I thought I would count the number of times I thought of Katie or count the things that reminded me of her. I got to 25 and stopped counting, I had been awake for six minutes!
It really is like that every day. Those who know me know I am a really sore loser. Be it a game of squash, a card game or a Southend United match I am afraid I do not take defeat too well at all. However, that feeling of loss is transient and goes almost as quickly as it comes.
The loss of Katie is all around and chips away at you all the time. Whatever you are doing or wherever you are it is present. Music, TV programmes, other teenagers, smells, shops, restaurants the list is endless. That is almost unbearable.
However, the lovely stories, the photos we as a family have all around our homes, this website, Katie’s cats at her Mum’s house, the many tangible memories we have of Katie are immeasurable in the comfort they bring to us.
Society today has adopted a new word and it seems that everyone is on a “journey”. I am not too sure that the journey we are on is one we are going to enjoy very much and as my mate Dave Kitteridge said when going through a similar time in his life “I don’t want to play this game anymore”.
However, we will carry on for Katie’s sake, she would be very cross if we didn’t do her proud, and through this site and other medium we will continue her legacy.
Until I “blog” again….
